Two forest genomics postdoc positions available at UPSC

Two post-doctoral positions are available at Umeå Plant Science Center with the possibility for extension for additional year immediately to work on the whole genome resequencing, GWAS and genomic selection for conifers. We are assembling new reference genomes, implementing large-scale resequencing for Norway spruce and Scots pine to develop high density SNP array, conducting GWAS for phenology, wood quality and chemical traits and applying genomic selection for Swedish tree breeding program. The applicant must have a strong background in bioinformatics, quantitative or population genetics. Experience in molecular genetics is a plus. Good communication skills and ability to work in a group are essential.

Umeå Plant Science Center ( is one of the world leading centers for research in plant biology. UPSC has state of the art equipment in genomics, confocal microscopy, metabolomics and proteomics and excellent plant growth facilities. UPSC has 150 researchers including 50 post-doctoral fellows and equal number of Ph. D and Master students. UPSC has a very international environment with researchers from 40+ countries. Umeå also provides close access to outdoor activities such skiing, hiking, kayaking, etc.
